January 11, 2020 Saturday Seminar led by Dr. Michael Fonseca

Our first Saturday Seminar of the new year will focus on the truth of the Church's teaching on the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the highest form of prayer. The Mass is the “source and summit of the Christian life” (Lumen Gentium, #11; Catechism of the Catholic Church, # 1324). It is the source of the Christian Life because every sacrament, every grace, blessing, and prayer flows from Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross resulting in His glorious victory over Satan and sin in His resurrection. We are baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus as Paul tells us in Colossians 2:12: “You were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.” Through our baptism, we share in God’s divine life, made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus. We are sons and daughters of God, addressing Him as Abba, Father, in the same way as Jesus does. Jesus is referring to the sacrament of Holy Communion when He says, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day” (John 6:54).
